Teeling – Wonders of Wood Virgin Carpathian Oak Fourth Edition (70cl, 50%)

This is the fourth edition of Teeling's Wonders of Wood series, an Irish single pot still whiskey from the Dublin distillery. It was matured in casks made from virgin Carpathian oak, in a 70cl bottle at 50% ABV. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring. The series looks at how different types of oak shape an Irish pot still whiskey. Because the casks had held no wine or spirit before, the whiskey meets freshly toasted Carpathian oak directly. The base spirit is triple distilled in Dublin and made from malted and unmalted barley. The nose opens with rosewater, candied dried fruit and fresh oak. On the palate come ginger, apple, pear and sandalwood. The finish is long, with golden pastry, dry wood spice and a faint hint of campfire smoke.
