Teeling Wonders of Wood Virgin Swedish Oak Third Edition (70cl, 50%)

This is the third edition of Teeling's Wonders of Wood series, an Irish single pot still whiskey bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. It is made from malted and unmalted barley, triple distilled. This edition matured in new Swedish oak casks, a wood rarely used for whisky. It is bottled without chill-filtration and without added colouring. The nose combines light citrus and floral notes with caramel, malted barley and a little sandalwood. On the palate, cane sugar sweetness meets ginger, toasted almonds and warm spice. The finish is long and fairly dry, with pepper, nutmeg and toasted oak, and some fruit lingering behind.
