Templeton – Rye Small Batch (40%)

Templeton Rye Small Batch is a rye whiskey from Iowa, bottled at 40%. Its recipe goes back to the rye distilled illegally around the village of Templeton during Prohibition. The brand was re-founded in 2006 and has had its own distillery in Templeton since 2018. The mash bill leans heavily on rye, with corn and malted barley, and the whisky matures in new charred American oak. That gives a spicy, peppery profile with clear vanilla. The nose offers rye bread, caramel and dried cherry. On the palate come cinnamon, vanilla and black pepper with a light touch of aniseed, and the finish is medium in length and spicy, with a dry, woody end.
