Tenuta dell'Ornellaia Ornellaia 2022 Bolgheri Superiore (75cl)

Ornellaia 2022 is a red Bolgheri Superiore from Tenuta dell'Ornellaia in Tuscany, a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot. The year brought a long dry spell of about 75 days and notable water stress, which kept yields low, before September rain and cool nights helped the grapes gather sugar, aroma and tannin. Merlot was picked first, on 25 August, and the Cabernet Sauvignon harvest ended on 10 October. The clusters were hand-picked into 15 kg crates and sorted by hand on a double sorting table. The nose shows black fruit with a touch of vanilla and tobacco. The palate is expansive and generous, with a powerful tannic structure leading to a savoury, enduring finish.
