Ornellaia 2023 is a red from Bolgheri Superiore DOC in Tuscany, made by Tenuta dell'Ornellaia. The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 7% Petit Verdot, and it was bottled in a 75cl bottle after prolonged ageing.
2023 was a challenging vintage in Bolgheri, with a mild winter and abundant spring rainfall.
The wine is a deep, vibrant ruby. The nose offers ripe blueberry and blackberry with other black fruits, toasted almond and cocoa, and Mediterranean shrub notes emerge in the glass. The palate is concentrated, plush and delicate, powerful but soft, with a finish carried by silky, chiselled tannins.
