This is The Dalmore 45 Year Old, a Highland single malt in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 40% ABV. Only 500 bottles were produced, each in a Baccarat crystal decanter carrying the Dalmore stag crest.
The whisky spent time in American white oak ex-Bourbon barrels, then in two Graham's Port Colheita pipes from 1961 and 1963, before a final marrying in first-fill ex-Bourbon. The Dalmore distillery was founded in 1839.
The nose brings red berries, soft liquorice, toasted hazelnuts and Manuka honey. On the palate come bitter chocolate, ripe dates, sticky toffee and spiced apple. The finish is long, with aged oak, dried fruits and a note of port sweetness.
