The Dalmore King Alexander III is a single malt Scotch whisky at 40%, in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in barrels that once held sherry, Cabernet Sauvignon, Madeira, Marsala, port and bourbon, and blended by Richard Paterson.
It is named after Alexander III of Scotland, who was saved from a stag by the founder of Clan MacKenzie and then allowed the clan to use a royal stag's head as its emblem. The MacKenzies acquired the distillery in 1867.
The nose has chocolate, nuts, toffee, spiced raisin and vanilla. The palate is sweet, with orange, vanilla, raisins and raspberry, and the finish is spicy oak, polished wood and liquorice root.
