The Glenrothes – Whisky Makers Cut (48.8%)

This is a Speyside single malt from The Glenrothes, bottled at 48.8% ABV and part of the Soleo Collection, a series that moves away from age statements. Every whisky in the collection matures entirely in sherry casks, and all Glenrothes whiskies are of natural colour. The Whisky Makers Cut was shaped by the distillery's own whisky maker, Gordon Motion, who chose 100% first fill sherry casks and the strength he prefers. The nose is fresh and oaky, almost resinous. The palate is rich and spicy with creamy vanilla and orange peel, and the finish is fruity orange with a touch of nutmeg.
