The Hearach is the first single malt from the Isle of Harris Distillery, and the first from the island itself. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle.
It is a vatting of spirit from ex-bourbon casks with spirit from Oloroso and Fino sherry butts. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring.
The nose brings machair wildflowers, especially white clover. On the palate, gentle peat smoke and toasted malt arrive with stewed apple, then mixed spices, candied ginger, vanilla and honeycomb. The long finish is creamy, with fresh leather.
