This is a 7 year old Laphroaig bottled by The Single Malts of Scotland in its Reserve Casks range. It was vatted from a batch of three ex-bourbon hogsheads, and the spirit was distilled in 2014.
The whisky is smoky with a herbaceous side. On the nose there is charred wood smoke and melting caramel, with crushed nuts over maple-syrup-coated bacon.
The palate opens vegetal and herbaceous, with thyme, sage and rosemary alongside black peppercorns, agave nectar and liquorice boiled sweets. The finish is lingering, with smoke and menthol.
