Thomas H. Handy Sazerac is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey, distilled by Buffalo Trace in 2012 and bottled in autumn 2018. This 6 year old comes in a 75cl bottle at a cask strength of 64.4%, or 128.8 US proof, and was part of the distillery's annual Antique Collection releases. The name honours Thomas H. Handy, a New Orleans bartender credited with popularising rye in the Sazerac cocktail in the late 19th century, when the phylloxera crisis made Cognac, the original ingredient, impossible to source. It is described as deep and fruity, with woody flavours and searing spices.
