Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye 2021 Barrel Proof (75cl, 64.8%)

Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye is a barrel proof Kentucky straight rye whiskey, part of the BTAC range and named after the New Orleans bartender who first used rye in his Sazerac cocktail. This 2021 edition was distilled in spring 2015 and released in October 2021, after six years and four months in charred new American oak. The mash bill combines Minnesota rye, Kentucky corn and North Dakota malted barley, and the whiskey was drawn from warehouses I, L, O and K. The nose is bold, with cocoa, cinnamon and orange zest. The palate is silky and spiced, with raisin, tamarind, lemon curd, milk chocolate and cashews. The finish is sweet-tart, ending in warming heat.
