Hawboen is a 3 year old organic Danish single malt, number 23 in Thy Whisky's numbered series of 24. It is matured in bourbon casks and bottled at 51.5% ABV in a 50cl bottle, with 1,320 bottles filled.
The name is a dedication to the people of Thy, who have lived beside the storm-battered North Sea for generations. Apart from a few single casks, it is the first whisky matured purely in bourbon casks that the distillery has bottled since 2016. The series ends in 2024, ten years after the first bottling.
It is described as fruity and lightly beech-smoked, with vanilla sweetness, citrus, soft caramel, toasted coconut, warming spices, beech syrup and a touch of maritime saltiness.
