Togouchi Beer Cask Finish Neue GP 2024 (70cl, 40%)

This is a Japanese blended whisky from Togouchi, made by Chugoku Jozo and bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is matured in bourbon casks, then given a six-month finish in IPA beer casks. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring. Chugoku Jozo was founded in 1918 and is known for sake, liqueur and shochu. It has made blended whisky under the Togouchi name since 1990, maturing it in a disused railway tunnel in the Nishi-Chugoku Sanchi mountains. The nose is fresh citrus and cereal with a light malt sweetness. The palate is full, with hops, spice, cornflakes, honey and a touch of nuts. The finish is medium in length, with a lasting sweet-bitter note.
