This is a 15 year old Tomatin from 2006, the second of three releases in The Portuguese Collection. It is a Highland single malt bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, without chill filtration.
The whisky was first matured in oak casks and then finished in Portuguese Moscatel wine casks, which add a sweet influence.
The nose is honeyed grapes, orange blossom and sweet musk with light vanilla and tropical fruit. On the palate there is sweet grape must, golden sultanas and apricot jam, with oak spice, honeysuckle and toasted almond. The finish is long, with muscovado sugar, dried fruits and gentle spice.
