This is a 26 year old rum from Uitvlugt, distilled in 1995 and bottled from Cask #2 at 50% in a 200ml bottle. It was matured with Mizunara oak, and the final cask held a heavier rum.
The nose is of raisin yeast cake, recalling Italian panettone, with cardamom, chamomile tea, a little menthol and violets in beeswax. The palate turns sweet and lightly nutty, with a smoky edge, spice and soft tannins.
The finish is gently smoky, with vanilla, mineral notes and a waxy feel.
