Van Winkle 12 Year Old Special Reserve is a 12-year-old bourbon from the Van Winkle family, in its 2014 release. It is made with a wheated mash bill, using wheat rather than rye as the secondary grain, which gives a softer and rounder character than most bourbon.
Tasting notes describe rich caramel, toffee and vanilla, with dried fruit and warm oak spice, followed by a smooth, lingering finish.
