Van Winkle Family Reserve is a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey, distilled at Stitzel-Weller in Louisville in 1970 and bottled in 1984. This is bottle number 879, in a 75cl bottle. It comes from the Van Winkle family's independent bottling operation and was drawn from Stitzel-Weller stocks made before the modern Pappy Van Winkle programme began. The wheated mashbill was produced under Van Winkle family oversight in this period, and it is the same mashbill that defines the Pappy Van Winkle range made at Buffalo Trace today.
