Van Winkle Family Reserve is a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon made at Stitzel-Weller in Louisville. It was distilled in 1970 and bottled in 1984, and this is bottle #A4, in a 750ml bottle.
It comes from the Van Winkle family's independent bottling, drawn from Stitzel-Weller stocks and released before the modern Pappy Van Winkle programme began. The A prefix marks a specific sequence within the 1984 bottling.
