W.L. Weller 12 Year Old is a wheated bourbon distilled at Buffalo Trace. It is named after William Larue Weller, a Kentucky pioneer who in 1825 replaced rye with wheat in the mash bill, giving a distinctly soft bourbon.
Twelve years of maturation is longer than most wheated bourbons receive.
The flavour is described as deep and complex, with touches of caramel, oak, vanilla and spice.
