Waiheke Whisky – DYAD Peat + Port (70cl, 46%)

Waiheke Whisky DYAD Peat + Port is a peated New Zealand single malt, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill filtered, with no added colour. The spirit was double distilled in copper pot stills in February 2018, from malt peated in Canterbury using New Zealand peat. It was aged first in ex-bourbon casks for 4 years, then finished for a final year in a Waiheke Island Port wine barrel, which gave it a reddish hue. The fortified wine came from Petit Verdot grapes grown nearby. Bottled in February 2023, it was chosen as a special bottling for NZ Dramfest 2023. The nose has dark berry fruits, dried dates, orange peel, vanilla and peat smoke. The palate is rich with red fruits, caramel and smoke, ending in a sweet, subtle oak finish.
