Waiheke Whisky – Sweetwater (70cl, 41%)

Sweetwater is a New Zealand whisky from Waiheke Whisky, bottled at 41% in a 70cl bottle. It is made from New Zealand malt, double distilled in copper pot stills and aged for 5 years in French oak ex-white wine casks that have been shaved, toasted and re-charred. It is then finished in ex-bourbon barrels. The nose is sweet and malty, and the palate offers candied orange peel and honeycomb. The finish brings almonds, clove and vanilla, with bourbon creaminess giving way to a long, dry, peppery close.
