Waterford – Hook Head 1.1 (70cl)

Waterford Hook Head 1.1 is an Irish whisky in a 70cl bottle, made from barley grown at Hook Head on the south coast of Ireland, 16 kilometres from the distillery. Martin Foley farms the barley in the shadow of the Hook Head lighthouse, on clay and loam soils derived from limestone and belonging to the Elton series. The fields are exposed to salt-laden storms, sea mist and sea breezes, which makes for a strongly maritime terroir. Waterford is built around terroir. Its founder, Mark Reynier, turned the former Guinness brewery in Waterford into a distillery in 2014.
