Waterford – Single Farm Origin Ballyroe 1.1 Irish Single Malt

This is an Irish single malt from Waterford, made only with barley grown on the Ballyroe farm. The soil there is sandy and mixed with clay and loam, and the whisky is described as recalling a summer garden in bloom. It matured in four types of cask: 36% first-fill Bourbon, 21% American virgin oak, 24% French Mouton-Rothschild red wine casks and 19% sherry casks. It belongs to the Single Farm Origin series of limited editions. The nose offers heather, fresh hay, honey, marzipan, rhubarb, fennel, orange peel, roses and soft sherry. The palate has exotic fruit glacé, orange marmalade and dark chocolate, with white pepper and fresh bread. The finish is slow, with dark chocolate and sweet mandarin.
