Westland – Colere 1st Edition (2020 Release) (70cl, 50%)

This is the first release in Westland's Colere series, an American single malt bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. The series uses forgotten barley varieties from the Pacific Northwest, with flavour as the aim. Colere is Latin for cultivate. Edition 1 uses Alba, a six-row winter barley. It was matured only in used casks, so that the oak plays a supporting role and the grain takes centre stage. The casks were 62% second-fill ISC Cooper's Reserve and 38% first-fill ex-bourbon. It was released in 2020, with 2,893 bottles produced.
