Westland – Colere 2nd Edition American Single Malt Whiskey (70cl, 50%)

An American single malt from Westland in Seattle, the second edition of its Colere series, which explores how different barley varieties affect flavour. This edition uses only Talisman, a two-row winter barley from the Maris Otter line. It was released in May 2022 in a worldwide run of 3,000 bottles, at 50%. The whiskey matured for at least four years and 357 days in used casks only: 58 per cent first-fill ex-bourbon and 42 per cent second-fill ISC Cooper's Reserve. Belgian brewer's yeast was used. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The nose has dried lemon peel, vanilla icing, fresh raspberry and a touch of honey. The palate shows malted barley, brown sugar, mixed berries, leather, dark chocolate and orange. The finish is lasting, with dark chocolate and orange.
