Whiskey Acres Blue Popcorn is an Illinois bourbon made from blue popcorn corn, bottled at 48.5% (97 proof) in a 75cl bottle. It is produced at Whiskey Acres Distilling Co. in DeKalb, a farm distillery that grows the grain it distils. The mashbill is 75% blue popcorn corn, 15% soft red winter wheat and 10% malted barley, distilled one batch at a time. The nose is caramel apple, toffee popcorn and fruit candies, with buttercream frosting. The palate brings caramel corn and kettle corn sweetness, candied orange, vanilla, corn pudding, clove, allspice and toasted oak char. The finish is of moderate length, with black pepper, oak spice and toffee.
