Whiskey Row ShippingPort is a blended Kentucky bourbon, bottled at 44% ABV in a 75cl bottle. Kentucky Artisan Distillery in Crestwood blends each batch from about 20 barrels drawn from four or five Kentucky distilleries, and every release carries a colour-coded strip stamp that identifies its blend. The mashbill includes corn, rye, wheat and malted barley, and the name nods to the Shippingport district of Louisville on the Ohio River.
The nose is vanilla and caramel corn with cinnamon, lemon and rye bread. The palate brings caramel sweetness, baking spices, gentle citrus, leather and a hint of toffee. The finish is medium, drying with oak tannins, a wisp of smoke, cinnamon and a faint cocoa note.
