WhistlePig 15 Year Old Estate Oak is a straight rye whiskey bottled at 92 proof, or 46% ABV. It is finished in custom-charred barrels made from Vermont oak harvested on the WhistlePig farm, a tighter-grained wood that adds a deep layer of vanilla and heavy spice.
The nose is dark caramel, vanilla bean, toasted oak and baking spices. On the palate come dark chocolate, butterscotch and sweet leather, balanced by rye spice and oak tannins. The finish is long and warming, with dark fruit and sweet toasted wood.
