This is a 15 year old rye whiskey from WhistlePig, bottled at 46%. It is the first WhistlePig release aged in Vermont Estate Oak, harvested from the distillery's own farm, and the oldest whiskey the brand makes.
The new Vermont oak barrels were given a long toast and a heavy char. The slow-growing Vermont trees have a tight grain, which is said to give the wood more flavour and depth.
It is described as rye spice mixed with wood sugar, earthy oak and lush citrus, with a velvety smoothness.
