WhistlePig – Boss Hog XII Feather & Flame

Boss Hog XII: Feather & Flame is the twelfth edition of WhistlePig's annual Boss Hog series, a single barrel straight rye whiskey. It is a limited edition, bottled at proof and topped with a handmade pewter pig. The rye was aged in new American oak, then finished in a pulque curado de cacao barrel. The edition draws on Mesoamerican ritual, pairing pulque with cacao and three Mexican peppers. The nose has caramel, dark chocolate and orange zest. Bright citrus leads the palate, with soft oak, cocoa and a faint earthy spice, and the finish moves from savoury cacao to herbaceous chilli pepper.
