Boss Hog XII: Feather & Flame is a single barrel straight rye whiskey from WhistlePig's limited-edition Boss Hog series, bottled at barrel strength, 52.4% ABV (104.8 proof), in a 750ml bottle. It is made from 100% rye and farm bottled in Vermont.
The rye is finished in pulque curado de cacao barrels, which previously held chocolate-infused pulque, a fermented agave sap.
The nose brings dark chocolate, roasted cocoa nibs, warm spice and oak. On the palate, strong rye spice meets sweet cacao, honey and caramel, with toasted wood and dried fruit. The finish is long and warming, with chocolate, oak and a bittersweet cacao note.
