White Peak Distillery – Wire Works Release No 6 Small Batch 2022 (70cl, 47.7%)

A small batch English single malt from White Peak Distillery, released in 2022 as Wire Works Release No 6. It is a vatting of first fill STR and bourbon casks, drawn from the warmer upper dunnage, with a little more American oak than the previous small batch and a slightly higher strength of 47.7% ABV. There are 4,251 bottles in the release, in a 70cl bottle styled as wound galvanised cable, in homage to the site's manufacturing history. It follows the distillery's lightly peated house style. The nose brings vanilla butter fudge, green apples and fruitcake, while the palate offers tobacco, bitter orange marmalade and cereal. Smoke and spice run through the finish, fading to sweet vanilla.
