This is the first release from White Peak Distillery in Derbyshire, bottled at 50.3% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The whisky was mashed, fermented, distilled and matured on site at the Wire Works, which gives the whisky its name.
It is made from both unpeated and peated malt, fermented slowly over four days with live yeast from a local Derbyshire brewery. Maturation took place in ex-bourbon and STR casks.
The nose is toffee, vanilla, candied ginger and orange peel. On the palate come dark chocolate, pepper, orchard fruits and a wisp of smoke, followed by a long finish of café mocha, liquorice and a final hint of peat.
