White Peak Wire Works Necessary Evil Finish 2025 (Batch 3) (70cl)

This is a 2025 release of Wire Works, a lightly peated single malt from White Peak Distillery in Derbyshire. It was first matured in ex-bourbon barrels, then finished in casks that had held Necessary Evil, an imperial stout from nearby Thornbridge Brewery. Those casks had originally held Wire Works whisky before going to the brewery. The bottling is a limited run of 2457 bottles in 70cl. The notes describe a sweet and savoury whisky. The nose brings vanilla fudge, roasted coffee, hazelnuts and baked apple pie. On the palate come cacao nibs, Black Forest gateau, black pepper and salted caramel. The finish has dark chocolate, tobacco, dark cherries and a touch of smoke.
