White Peak Wire Works Necessary Evil Finish (70cl, 51.3%)

Wire Works Necessary Evil Finish is an English single malt from White Peak Distillery, bottled at 51.3% in a 70cl bottle. It is a vatting of lightly peated malt first matured in ex-bourbon casks. The finish comes from imperial stout oak casks that held Necessary Evil, a stout from Thornbridge Brewery in Derbyshire. This year's stout casks had earlier been used to mature Pedro Ximénez sherry. The nose is sweet and savoury, with hazelnuts, light roast coffee and roasted malt. On the palate come cacao nibs, dates, prunes and marmalade, and the finish is sweet, malty and smoky.
