This is an eight-year-old straight rye from Willett Family Estate, a private barrel selection from Willett Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky. Barrel no. 2883 was hand-bottled from a single cask at 64% ABV (128 proof), non-chill-filtered, in Willett's hand-labelled style.
The 'Ryeteous Pick' name is a rye-grain pun on 'righteous pick', in keeping with Willett's habit of giving selected barrels playful nicknames.
The nose is forward with rye grain, spice, caramel, citrus, vanilla and fresh-baked rye bread. The palate is intense, with cinnamon, pepper, brown sugar, charred barrel and lively grain heat. The finish is long and warming, with lasting rye spice and sweet barrel notes.
