Wire Works Coastal Smoke Single Malt Whisky (70cl)

Wire Works Coastal Smoke is a single malt from White Peak Distillery in Derbyshire, made from lightly peated spirit distilled with two sets of cut points. It matured first in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels from Heaven Hill and was finished in Islay whisky barrels. The outturn is 1,575 bottles. Two kinds of peat are involved: mainland peat was used to malt the barley, and the Islay barrels add a second layer. It is natural in colour and non-chill filtered. The nose pairs baked vanilla cheesecake and lemon meringue with campfire ash and pineapple juice. Jaffa cakes, tropical fruit and peaches and cream lead the palate, and the finish carries malted biscuits, sage, soft peat and orange marmalade.
