Wolfburn – 12 Year Old (70cl, 46%)

This is a 12-year-old Wolfburn single malt, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is the first 12-year-old from the Caithness distillery. It was matured in bourbon and sherry casks, along with quarter casks that had previously held a peaty Islay whisky, which add a gentle note of smoke. The spirit itself brings fruit sweetness, joined by creamy bourbon-cask character and sherry notes. The nose is sweet and floral with a light touch of peat smoke. On the palate there is light honey, burnt sugar and plenty of fruit, leading to a very long finish of dried fruit and caramel.
