Wolfburn – Aurora Sherry Oak (70cl, 46%)

Wolfburn Aurora is a single malt from the Wolfburn distillery in Thurso, in the north of Scotland. Most of it was matured in ex-bourbon casks of American white oak, with a share of Spanish ex-Oloroso sherry casks. The bourbon casks add soft vanilla, while the sherry casks give fruity sweetness and a rich golden colour. It is bottled at 46%, without chill-filtration or added colour. The nose offers sherry sweetness, fresh grass, autumn fruits, a hint of coffee and dark chocolate. On the palate come floral notes with sweet vanilla, honey and Galia melon, then spice, nuts and a touch of ginger. The finish is of medium length, warm and soft.
