Wolfburn – Aurora (70cl, 46%)

Wolfburn Aurora is a single malt from Wolfburn distillery on the north coast of Scotland, at 46% abv, in a 70cl bottle. Whisky was last made at Wolfburn around 1850, and the distillery reopened in 2013. Aurora is matured 80% in American quarter casks and 20% in Spanish first-fill sherry casks, which are brought together at the end of maturation. Light gold in colour, it is described as having sherry sweetness, fresh grass, stone fruit, coffee and dark chocolate on the nose. The palate brings floral notes, spice, vanilla, dried fruit and roasted nuts, and the finish is long and soft.
