Wolfburn Batch 177 – Caribbean Rum Barrel (46%)

Wolfburn Batch 177 is a Highland single malt bottled at 46% vol, limited to 4,900 bottles. It takes its name from Warehouse 1, where the casks matured in row 77. The batch combines 8 year old first-fill bourbon barrels with 7 year old first-fill Caribbean rum barrels. The nose is braised figs and plums with candied ginger, caramel toffee, sultanas and a little marzipan. The rum barrels show clearly on the palate, which moves through molasses, fruit and honey before a hint of oak. The finish is oily and sweet, fading slowly with fruity notes.
