Wolfburn – Langskip (70cl, 58%)

Wolfburn Langskip is a single malt from the Wolfburn distillery in Thurso, and the first of its whiskies bottled at cask strength. This one is 58%, in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and without added colouring. The name draws on the Viking ships that feature in Thurso's history. It carries no age statement and contains spirit distilled in 2013 and 2014. It matured in first fill bourbon barrels. The nose is fruity, with orchard blossom and dried apples above a light oak note. The palate is sweet and spicy, with maple syrup, dark chocolate, almonds and fruit cake. The finish is soft and long, with gentle vanilla and a touch of caramel.
