Wolfburn Morven is a lightly peated single malt from Wolfburn, the most northerly mainland distillery in Scotland, in Thurso. It is named after the mountain Morven in Caithness. It is made from lightly peated malted barley and matured for around four years in ex-bourbon casks. It is bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
The nose is a freshly lit peat fire wrapped in a sea breeze, which gives way to ripe fruit. On the palate, sweet floral notes of lilac and freesia meet dry grasses and mild cereal, with soft vanilla, turmeric and cinnamon, and a light touch of peat smoke. The finish is medium in length, with earthy smoke fading slowly.
