This is Woodford Reserve's first rye bottled at cask strength, made at the brand's distillery in Versailles, Kentucky. It comes in a 70cl bottle at 62.55% ABV, which is 125.1 proof, and is not chill-filtered or coloured.
The mash bill is 53% rye, 33% corn and 14% malted barley. The whiskey matures in new charred white oak barrels.
The nose brings pepper, clove and nutmeg with strongly toasted oak, vanilla pod and orange oil. On the palate there is juicy orange with clove and nutmeg, joined by leather and tobacco. The finish is long and dry, with citrus and unsweetened tea.
