Woodford Reserve Rye is a Kentucky rye whiskey from a distillery that traces its beginnings to 1797, when Elijah Pepper began distilling behind the Woodford County Courthouse in Versailles. Woodford Reserve uses both a pot still and a column still. The mash bill follows a pre-Prohibition style, with 53% rye, in homage to the original rye whiskeys. Spice and tobacco lead the aroma, set among fruit, floral and sweet notes, giving a pleasing sweetness and balance.
