Woodford Reserve – Kentucky Straight Bourbon

Woodford Reserve is a small-batch Kentucky straight bourbon from one of the state's older distilleries, with roots in the small whiskey operation Elijah Pepper began in Versailles, Kentucky, in 1797. The mashbill is 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malt. It is made using both pot and column stills, is triple distilled, and goes into the barrel at a notably low proof. The bourbon is aged for at least six years in new charred oak barrels. It is thick and creamy, with honey, spice, leather, a touch of cocoa, a little smoke, toasty oak and vanilla cream with a hint of butterscotch.
