This is a Kentucky straight wheat whiskey from the Woodford Reserve Distillery, part of the Distiller's Select range. Wheat leads the mash bill, with maize, rye and malted barley alongside it, rather than the corn-led recipe of a classic bourbon.
It is matured in new, charred American white oak casks and bottled at 45.2% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring.
The nose brings baked apple, ripe pear and banana with floral notes and sweet vanilla. The palate is creamy and round, with stewed apple, toasted coconut, fine spice and a hint of mint and herbs. The finish is balanced and lightly dry, with cocoa, oak and apple peel.
