Woodford Reserve – Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey (70cl, 45.2%)

Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Rye is a Kentucky rye whiskey bottled at 45.2% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtration or added colour. It follows a grain recipe in the style of the years before American Prohibition, with 53% rye in the mash. Spice and tobacco shape its character, balanced by fruity, floral and sweet notes. The nose combines rye, black pepper, cedar and cassia bark with sweet marzipan, while pear, apple and almond add fruit and nut. On the palate, cloves, rye and mint meet molasses, sorghum syrup and honey, with touches of apple and malt. The finish is long and keeps a sweet spiciness.
