Woodford Reserve – Master's Collection No.17 Five Malt Stouted Mash 2021 (70cl, 45.2%)

This is the 17th release in Woodford Reserve's Master's Collection, a series that began in 2006. It is a malt whiskey made to echo a rich, roasted stout beer, and it was created by Master Distiller Chris Morris with assistant Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall. Five malts go into the mash: standard distillers' malt, wheat malt, pale chocolate malt, carafa 1 malt and kiln coffee malt. The last three are dark-roasted malts of the kind home brewers will know. The idea draws on the distillery's 1838 building, put up by Irish stonemasons, and on its triple pot stills, which distil in the Irish style.
